What is Networking?

Connecting two or more computers/ devices together to share information is called networking. Networking is nothing but connecting devices with each other. But the question is HOW ?

There are two ways to connect the devices. 

• One is physically through network cables
• second is through signals from wireless network-WIFI Wired/wireless systems basically communicate with the devices in the same way.

Wired/wireless systems basically communicate with the devices in the same way. As shown in the diagram. Wireless and wired doing same thing. Both will access the same router. In order to connect two PCs, we need one cross network cable and configure IP`s for both the PC`s manually. Names of both the PCs should be different but network workgroup should be same. In order to connect more than two PCs, Internet router can be used. In order to connect more than two PCs, Internet router can be used. Connect all the wired device through cable and rest through Wi-Fi to the router.in case of more devices and less ports available in router, we can use a network switch. Network switch is similar to electrical extension board Where in it provide more ports So we can connect 'n' number of devices to the switch and in turn to the router. In case of wireless devices, you can use access point to connect the network. Now you need to configure IPs manually to all connected devices. IN order to avoid manual configuration, you can use DHCP server to the switching order to avoid manual configuration, you can use DHCP server to the switch. DHCP server can be a PC or Router. In cases you have a router and don't have internet connection, you can use the router as DHCP server. DHCP server will configure IP automatically on supply connection to the switch.
